ELMAP has donated us all that is needed to automate turbine. Thank you!

ELMAP is a company specializing in automation in industry and construction. Since our desire is to make the Arhimed turbine fully automated, we have come to them in the hope of supporting our project with the donation of equipment. And they did it. Thank you!!ELMAP donated a PLC device with 22 digital inputs and 18 digital outputs, 10 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs. This equipment will enable us to monitor the operation of the turbine in the following way: water flow will be varied in 20 points, turbine angle (pool height) in 20 points and turbine turning speed in 10 points, which together makes monitoring the work in a total of 4000 work points. In addition to the PLC device, we also got SIMATIC and EPLAN programs. Input and…

WURTH donated the equipment for us, thank you!

In order to always be ready to run out of business clothes and jump into work clothes, Wurth has equipped us with work clothes and protective equipment. In addition, they donated us and grinders and drills. We are ready to work :).Take a look at our new equipment in the photo gallery, and read more about WURTH on their web pages,Thank you!!

We got two electric motors, thanks to FESB!

To round off the active components of the power generation system, we need an electric motor that can work in the generator and motor mode of operation. In the generating mode, the shaft of the machine is started by giving it mechanical energy from external source, such as a turbine. In this case, the voltage is induced on the stator, which transforms the mechanical energy into the electric current. In the motor regeneration, the stator of the machine is connected to the multiphase grid, and the electric current generates a rotating magnetic field in the engine core, causing the rotor to rotate, transforming the electric energy into the mechanical. FESB has donated two electric motors, one DC and one AC. Tests will be performed alternately, with both electric motors. After…

Thank you ELEKTROKOVINA!

Elektrokovina Zagreb is a company specializing in the representation, placement and servicing of lamps, electric motors and pumps. The pressure in the pump is proportional to the pump's pump height. In order to measure the pump level, two DANFOS pressure sensors will be installed in our water supply system. One will be installed at the pump inlet and the other at the pump outlet. From the difference in pressures and characteristics (H, Q diagram) our pumps will measure volumetric flow through the delivery system. Thanks to Elektrokovina for a valuable donation of two DUNFOS pressure sensors!

SKF has donated us a linear actuator. THANK YOU!

SKF is the world's leading supplier of technology services since 1907. Their core strength is the ability to continuously develop new technologies and their application in creating products with competitive advantages. This is achieved by a combination of practical experience in over forty industrial areas and knowledge of SKF technology platforms: bearings and bearing units, seals, mechatronics, service and lubrication systems. SKF has donated us a linear actuator. The actuator is used to regulate the height of the upper pool. Archimedes screw pitch is regulated by change in the height of the upper pool. This donation will enable us to test the efficiency of the turbine in operating modes with different angles of the screw. Than you SKF! Find out more about the company and solutions for the industry applications…

Our test station is now equipped with a magnetic Krohne flow meter. Thanks OMIKO!

The main objective of testing our model of the Arhimed turbine is to determine the turbine efficiency and turbine power depending on the volume flow of water. However, in order to do those mesaurements, we need a flow meter, right?Thank you OMIKO for the donation of the electromagnetic Krohne flow meter.Electromagnetic flow measurement is based on Faraday's law. According to this law, the voltage is induced in a conductive medium that is moving in the magnetic field. That voltage is proportional to the flow rate of the media. Transmiter amplifies this signal and turns it into standard outputs as a current or pulse signal. You can read more about Omiko here: https://omiko.hr/Photos are in gallery, as always! ;)

Grundfos donated the pump!

The turbine's metal skeleton is done, but in order for the turbine to perform its task and produce electricity, it is necessary to incorporate the active components of the energy conversion. Our sponsor Grundfos has donated us a horizontal multipurpose pump with a maximum flow rate of 82.4 m3 / h at 4.6 m and 1400 rpm! The pump is modular and has a frequency converter. The frequency converter is a device for continuous change of electric motor speed, and our frequency converter will enable us to manage and control process sizes. The pump will be placed on the supporting structure of the test station, between the upper and lower water pool. To dampen vibrations, the pump will be mounted on rubber washers and secured with bolts. The role of…

Salona Var creates the first model of the Arhimedes screw turbine

The design and dimensioning of the turbine is completed. On May 8, 2015 a final meeting with Salona Var was held. According to our project, the company has developed a turbine, pools and other components needed for assembling the test station. The turbine test model is located in the premises of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture. Over the next period, we plan to procure the equipment needed for turbine operation and the equipment required to measure and optimize the turbine. Take a look at the photo gallery and see how the steel skeleton of our turbine looks like. You can follow further steps of the project on our website and you are always welcome to come and visit us :). ∼ About Salona Var d.o.o. ∼ The…
